The results came in for the Vegan Society NZ’s Chocolate Awards for 2023 in April, and we are incredibly humbled and excited to announce our 72% Chuncho was a huge success. It is exciting to be gaining accolades such as these, and to be honoured alongside other stellar contestants.

The ONZFPA were announced in March ‘23, and we picked up a gold medal for the 68% Port, as well as a silver medal for the 48% Sourdough & Brown Butter.

Our Mission
Lucid Chocolatier focuses on sourcing the best organic beans from Peru, and bringing them to New Zealand to create what we believe is the most unique craft chocolate on the market. Our standards are extremely high, and our processes are both considered and meticulous.
Our Head Chocolate Maker, Johnty Tatham is extremely passionate about his mission to showcase what artisanal chocolate making is all about. Having studied both in New Zealand and USA, worked as a pastry chef and chocolatier, and being a gold medal competitive chef, Johnty is excited to share his take on craft chocolate with you.
We have prepared three collections for you to showcase creativity across all aspects of the chocolate making process. We hope you enjoy exploring the Lucid approach to chocolate making.

Our luxury range includes the 68% Port with caramel, nut, and raisin notes. It’s infused with 10-year-old Tawny Port, adding depth of flavour. This inspired creation won Gold in the 2023 Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards in the bean-to-bar flavoured category.
We also bring you the 72%, coffee, hazelnut, and red berry flavoured Santiago de Sisa, another award-winning production that took the 2022 New Zealand Chocolate Award in the single origin category.
